The Model VDE026 Decoder Module provides for the real-time decoding of MPEG-2 or H.264 compressed video. An advanced DSP-based architecture provides the latest in video/audio compression technology. The VDE026 is connected directly to the network and is capable of receiving either unicast or multicast transmissions. When the module detects an MPEG-2 compliant transport stream it demultiplexes the stream and automatically detects the video compression algorithm (MPEG-2 or H.264). The video and audio elementary streams are decompressed and output via the front panel.

The VDE026 is easily configured for operation on any network via the RS-232 serial or Ethernet ports. All I/O connections are via the front panel. Status LEDs provide transport stream and network monitoring. The module is a standard 6U VME configuration requiring only power from the bus.
